Gicleé prints are created with an IRIS printer which sprays millions of tiny droplets of ink onto an absorbent surface producing an archival fine art piece without a digital signature.

     The paper or canvas is carefully mounted onto a drum that rotates as it's sprayed with 4,000,000 tiny droplets per second by 4 calibrated color streams of archival inks. 512 chromatic changes are produced, with over 3,000,000 possible colors of saturated, nontoxic water-based ink. The result is a continuous-tone print with the precise hue, value, and density of the original.​

Yes, I can actually draw - just sitting on steps of patio with a drawing pad on my knees. This one is done with conte crayon, which is a squared stick (as a stick of butter is squared) of rub-off color, much more like chalk or pastels than crayon.

    This patio is part of a condo in a converted old red-brick school building. A school in which I was a student in an earlier century.

I love this one, Sean. It's got an abstract, surreal quality that still somehow manages to be quite believable. Like peeling back a layer of our reality and looking at a parallel universe. I think it's marvelous. S.d.l.B.
